David Oluwatomiwa Akanmu
David Akanmu is a Ph.D. student in the Benson Lab at Stanford University’s Energy Science & Engineering program. His work focuses on process modeling and advanced energy systems. His current research explores methane pyrolysis as a pathway to produce high-value carbon materials—such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphite—with attention to energy intensity, heat recovery, and system-scale optimization. He develops integrated models that couple reactor physics, thermal transport, techno-economic analysis, and life-cycle assessment to evaluate the viability of these technologies from pilot to gigaton scale.David holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos. He is a Knight-Hennessy Scholar and previously worked as a Business Analyst at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
